Like many engineers, Aaron had a particular talent for science and math in high school, but wasn’t sure exactly how to apply that talent. He took a drafting class to fill time and found he was good at the technical aspect, but didn’t want to be an architect. During a college search, a friend recommended architectural engineering, which caught Aaron’s attention because it combined science, math, and drafting.

Aaron’s primary goal is to provide clients with a building they can be proud of, which requires him to keep up with changes in codes and new technology. As a leader, Aaron is constantly developing new skills to widen the variety of tools available to him. This allows him to be flexible enough to meet a project’s budget, timeline, and sustainability goals.

Many of the tools in his belt, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED); Green Globes Professional (GGP); and Guiding Principles Compliance Professional (GPCP), showcase Aaron’s commitment to sustainability. His first LEED project opened his eyes to the impact he has as an engineer. Every decision that goes into a building’s design has a long-term influence on energy usage and operating costs. This is why Aaron focuses on implementing energy-saving strategies into his designs whenever possible, not only saving the owner money, but reducing energy waste and the building’s negative impact on the environment.
