Alvine Engineering Promotes Tyler Hopson to Project Manager

Alvine Engineering is honored to announce the promotion of Tyler Hopson P.E. PMP, LEED AP BD+C/ID+C, WELL AP to project manager. Tyler specializes in electrical engineering and has since become a leader in Alvine Engineering’s Omaha office.

Sometimes people get lucky enough to figure out what they want to do as early as high school. That was the case for Tyler. He took a CAD class without knowing truly knowing what it was and this experience guided him towards the AEC industry. When it was time for college, Tyler thought he was interested in architecture, but quickly realized that he was more interested in the math and physics side of the industry, and was introduced to architectural engineering. He took an electrical circuits course and was immediately swayed to select electrical engineering as his focus.

Tyler continues to be a lifelong learner and challenges himself to become a better engineer and leader in the firm. He enjoys starting with a blank sheet and conceptualizing something that ends up being built. At the beginning of his career, he was primarily working on smaller projects. As the years have progressed, he has advanced to designing skyline-changing buildings. In all of those instances, getting to see the entire process go from start to finish, from a blank paper to a set of plans to something real, never gets old for Tyler.

As for the future of engineering, Tyler envisions a more collaborative environment. Every project is unique, which has given Tyler the opportunity to work directly with the architects, developers, and contractors, in the development of the plans. Being involved in projects from initial conception to final close-out has enlightened him to several different aspects of a project including, how available means and methods inform the design and pricing of labor vs materials for various scenarios. As a project manager, Tyler tries to make this vision a reality by encouraging the ideas of others and being available whenever someone has a question.
