PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Originally home to Liberty Bank, this structure was purchased by BancFirst, who restored the 1970s skyscraper with the intent of glorifying the downtown Oklahoma City icon. Sitting 36 stories high and currently the second-tallest building in the city, this location takes over as the bank’s new corporate headquarters. It allows BancFirst to consolidate its operations across several areas. A striking renovation of the exterior façade, entrance lobby, and ground-level plaza creates a strong connection to the downtown community and skyline.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

• Exterior lighting draws people to the building via crown lighting on top of the tower, edge-lit retaining walls that serve as seating areas, catenary lighting above a pedestrian seating area, back-lit skylights, and the open, transparent lobby.
• The RGBA lighting system allows the owner to change the lighting at the crown and skylights for local events and causes, strengthening the connection to the community.
• Renovation of the outdoor plaza, which includes skylights that peer down into the below-grade concourse, provides ample seating and green space for local employees and pedestrians to enjoy.
• The entire first floor and below-grade concourse were completely renovated to create a welcoming entry lobby representative of today’s Class A office environments.
• Energy modeling analysis was used to select a new curtain wall system.
• Rehabilitation of the MEP included restoring the air-handling units to the original operational intent, modifying the electrical distribution to comply with code requirements for emergency systems, and upgrading the plumbing systems.
• MEP systems were added within the building to support a resilient server room backed up by an onsite generator.
• Interior lighting was designed to modernize the lobby and first-floor spaces, including two food and beverage spaces and a branch bank. In the below-grade concourse, the lighting design helped to create a feeling of airy openness.
