Cody Hermsmeyer
Cody has always been interested in design and construction. Initially wanting to be an architect, he quickly found that the architectural engineering field drew him in with its challenging technical aspects and flexibility to add a personal touch to each project’s design.
Engineering requires an extensive amount of problem-solving and creativity. Early on in Cody’s career, he was part of a design team that worked on a multi-story renovation and addition to a local hospital that included patient rooms, waiting rooms, operating rooms, and many support spaces. Engineering for healthcare is very complex and heavily driven by many different codes and guidelines, but it also comes with an opportunity to execute high-quality engineering solutions. One particular aspect of the project included a chance to work with a local artist to provide lighting design that met their expectations of illuminating a large hand-painted mural that was installed within the space. The overall lighting design of that project went on to win an Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Award of Merit.
Throughout his career, Cody has enjoyed collaborating with clients and becoming their preferred consultant for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design. As a project manager, Cody is committed to continuously improving the services he provides and managing teams to achieve the clients’ schedules and goals and exceed their expectations. Cody approaches each project as a chance to learn something new and expand his engineering knowledge and expertise. As a firm leader, he is also dedicated to guiding the next generation of engineers, sharing his knowledge and experiences whenever possible.
