PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Oklahoma City’s first television station to sign on the air relaunched the television program with a high-tech news set and media center in order to better serve it’s audience. The KFOR television facility contains a new two-studio complex that was built adjacent to the existing studio. The new facility utilizes the existing central plant, which Alvine Engineering also designed.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- Complete HVAC systems including connections to existing central plant, air handling equipment, air distribution ductwork, and piping systems. HVAC systems were designed to comply with sound transmission requirements for studios.
- Central plant and building air-handling equipment provide primary cooling to raised floor area for increased building efficiency and reduced operating costs.
- Standalone, redundant cooling system consisting of ceiling-mount fan coil units and computer room air conditioning units with air-cooled condensing units for critical spaces including television studio data center.
- Double-interlocked pre-action fire protection system serves critical spaces.
- Portable generator connection for quick disaster recovery response time.
- High-efficiency UPS system with maintenance bypass for concurrent maintainability of critical load.
- Raised-access floor for distribution of power and network cables.
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system design accommodated a seamless transition from the existing building to the new building, where both buildings are operational and without downtime for the television studio.
- Plumbing systems including all plumbing fixtures, domestic water piping, sanitary sewer piping, and sanitary vent piping were designed in accordance with applicable code.
