PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Located on a 13-acre campus, the Clifton Early Childhood Education Center provides high-quality childcare for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years and care for older children when school is not in session. The facility has 12 classrooms with direct access to outdoor learning environments promoting age-appropriate play and exploration opportunities. The center also includes a training center and community hall, featuring meeting room spaces, administrative offices, and a technology center to elevate the space and serve families in a way previously not done by many early education centers.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- Mechanical systems were designed to provide comfort for all unique areas and utilize MERV 13 filters to improve indoor air quality.
- The utility metering system was designed for each of the three unique spaces.
- The seamless integration of interior lighting design highlights architectural features and activity areas, helping to promote learning opportunities throughout the center.
- The site lighting design for the campus includes a central green space with a pavilion for outdoor community events.
- Designed the infrastructure for electronic vehicle (EV) charging stations and photovoltaic array implementation for future installation.
- Design of electrical engineering systems to support the pump house building that serves the campus and surrounding athletic fields.
- Analyzed several mechanical system types to review first cost, energy use intensity (EUI), and maintenance and determined the type best suited for this project. The result was the selection of a packaged rooftop unit serving variable air volume (VAV) terminals.
