PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The University of Oklahoma’s Dunham and Headington Residential Colleges offer upperclassmen students the opportunity to continue living on campus in a unique environment. The facilities are comprised of two 5-story residential towers connected to a central, single-story building, which contains a separate dining hall and private dining room for each college. The residential colleges were designed to create a sense of community for the students with many collaborative study areas and spaces for many types of gatherings. A central kitchen provides food services to each college. Both the West and East College buildings house 316 students for a total of 632 residents.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- Electrical service is provided by the campus distribution system.
- Emergency power will be supplied via a centralized lighting inverter. The inverter can provide 120 minutes of backup power for egress lighting within the facility. The centralized lighting inverter is located in the basement storm shelters and is backed up by a standby generator.
- Optional standby power is supplied by one diesel-fueled engine generator located outdoors in sound-attenuated, weather-protected, reach-in enclosures. The engine generator features a double-wall, in-base fuel tank, radiator, and silencer.
