PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The University of Nebraska Medical Center Stanley M. Truhlsen Eye Institute is a world-class facility that integrates clinicians, researchers, and patients into one state-of-the-art facility. The Eye Institute serves patients with the latest specialized care techniques and diagnostic medicine. Program areas include outpatient eye exam facilities for all ophthalmic subspecialties, a children’s eye care center, clinic research, and a regional diagnostic center.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- The University of Nebraska Medical Center Stanley M. Truhlsen Eye Institute is LEED Certified with an emphasis on the integration of architectural design and energy modeling.
- The facility infrastructure is designed to accommodate a surgical addition that will be added when funding is available.
- The facility has one of the few true atriums inside the facility. A smoke management system was designed for the atrium.
- The diversity of spaces and occupancies in the building required different MEP design strategies and systems to ensure that each program space was optimized from a comfort and functional standpoint.
